Position Summary
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for the product detailed analysis and design of SKYRE’s H2RENEW™ and CO2RENEW™ products for the industrial marketplace. Contributes actively through all the phases of the product lifecycle including preliminary design, development, safety, qualification and certification and product support.

Primary Responsibilities
Design electrochemical systems featuring SKYRE’s electrochemical cell stack hardware integrated with fluid and thermal control systems for delivery to commercial and government customers
Select and evaluate balance of plant components for suitability in the electrochemical system, with consideration of pressure and temperature ratings as well as materials of construction
Evaluate component suppliers and review capabilities with manufacturing representatives to determine approved supplier status; develop inspection criteria based on critical dimensions and properties
Develop new components and sub-system designs for the H2RENEW™ and CO2RENEW™ industrial product line.
Take full responsibility for correct design, analysis, and qualification through to the production floor including vibration and stress analyses of the system, ensuring compatibility with normal transportation loads or as may be specified by the customer
Execute drawing and configuration controls to assure accurate and repeatable production and field upgrade packages
Develop and execute 3rd Party regulatory qualification and certification including UL, CE, ISO, and various industry guidelines
Work with University researcher on best practices, latest component development and materials breakthroughs
Analyze data gathered and develop solutions or alternative methods of proceeding to optimize performance and increase efficiency for systems verification activities
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering disciplines (advanced Degree encouraged)
Experience with hardware development for a regulated industry
Understanding of component design and system packaging
Understanding of Additive Manufacturing for prototype and/or production
Understanding of metallics and non-metallics
Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks including the ability to perform analysis
Understanding of tolerancing for manufacturability
Keen aptitude for technical work that spans multiple levels of detail and disciplines
Working Conditions
Light physical effort; frequent lifting or moving of lightweight materials.
Standing, bending and lifting up to approximately fifty pounds during a typical eight-hour workday.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
